Reach the Fall Harvest World.
The Fall Harvest Update, live August 2, 2026, is the biggest content drop since GAG2 launched — and most of it lives in a separate world layered on top of the main game. To get there, find the new NPC Ethan, who opens a portal to the Fall Harvest World. It runs on its own seasonal Leaves currency and its own sequential Cornucopia questline, so treat it as a fresh garden with its own economy rather than an extension of your main plot. The event is seasonal — expected to run roughly 60 days, closing around early October 2026 — so treat everything here as time-limited. Leaves and the Cornucopia questline.
Everything in the event world is bought with Leaves, the seasonal currency, and the Cornucopia questline — handed out by the Pilgrim NPC — is the spine that pulls you through the content in order. Work the quests in sequence: each one funds the next unlock, and the questline is also a route to the event's rarest reward, the Shadow Dragon pet. Because the currency and quests are seasonal, prioritise the unlocks you cannot get anywhere else — the new pets and the Shadow Dragon — over cosmetic or convenience buys you could earn in the base game. And use Magic Mail as your exit strategy: it sends items from the event world back to your Garden Valley plot, so anything you want to keep past the season should be mailed home before the world closes.

Spend Leaves on pets
Seasonal pets are the unlocks you cannot re-earn later — buy those before anything optional.
Farm the ×50 Veil mutation.
Veil is the headline mechanic of the update and the first pet-applied mutation in GAG2. Instead of waiting on a random weather event, you roll a chance at Veil — worth roughly ×50 — whenever a Shadow Dragon is flying over your plot. That changes the whole economics of high-value farming: you can chase a top-tier multiplier on your own schedule, as long as you own the pet.
The play is a settled, always-on farm. Keep the Shadow Dragon active and harvest your heaviest multi-harvest crops repeatedly to fish for the roll. Point it at Moon Bloom, Sun Bloom or Poison Apple — never single-harvest crops, which dampen the mutation heavily. One honest caveat: Veil is new and its ×50 value is still being balanced, so check the GAG2 Calculator for the current number before you sell.

The event world adds its own night event. On a Werewolf Night, one random player per server transforms into a faster werewolf that can steal from gardens. The twist: hit the werewolf with a shovel and the curse — and the extra speed — passes to you. That makes the werewolf both a threat and an opportunity, depending on whether you want to play defense or grab the speed for a raid of your own.
Rare Harvest Moon nights can also appear during the season. Either way, the base-game rules of night still apply: harvest or defend your valuables before dark, because a Veil-mutated crop is exactly the kind of prize the werewolf will come for. The full night defense guide carries straight over.
Which of the eight to chase.
The event added eight pets, all earned with Leaves. Community trade values are not established yet, so judge them on ability, not price. The clear standout is the Shadow Dragon for its Veil mutation. After that, the Swan is the best everyday pet — it auto-waters and speeds nearby crops, earning while you are away. The Squirrel and Turkey dig up free seeds, the Hedgehog and Dog defend your plot, and the Fox and Wolf are high-variance night pets — the Fox steals seeds but is a prime target for a future nerf.

The patch also brought new seeds — the Secret-tier Amber Cranberry and Conifer Cone, a wave of Maple crop variants and the Atlantic Giant Pumpkin, a giant weight-record crop. Their base values are not community-verified yet, so do not trust guessed numbers; price anything new in the calculator before you commit Leaves or Sheckles. On the gear side, The Harp spawns pets around the map, while the Bull Horn and Wind Staff are new PvP tools for shoving and flinging other players.
