TURTLE & BLACK DRAGON UPDATE

Grow a Garden 2 Turtle & Black Dragon Update, released Jun 23, 2026. Here is everything that changed — 2 documented updates — plus how to plan around it with the GAG2 Calculator.

What changed

The Turtle & Black Dragon Update (June 23, 2026) added two pets at opposite ends of the spectrum, and both still have a place in current builds. The Black Dragon is a Super-rarity defender that burns intruders — one of the strongest anti-thief pets in the game, bought from the Sheckle shop and carrying a 1,000,000 Sheckle reference value. In a game where your ripest crops are raided at night, it became half of the classic lockdown pairing: Ice Serpent freezes, Black Dragon burns, and very few thieves get through both.

The Turtle is the humble counterpart: a Rare utility pet at roughly a 3.75% wild spawn that trades 2 walk speed for +10 backpack storage. That sounds minor until you run a big multi-harvest plot — more carry capacity means fewer round trips to the Sell Stand, which quietly adds up across a session. At around a 40,000 Sheckle reference value it is one of the cheapest genuinely useful pets in GAG2. The patch also launched the Cash Crop guild competition, an early entry in the guild-event cadence that later updates expanded. Advice that still holds: grab a Turtle early for the quality of life, and treat the Black Dragon as the milestone purchase that makes your best rows safe to grow.
