The scams you will actually see.
Trading in GAG2 attracts scammers because items have real, tradeable value. The community regularly posts warnings about specific repeat offenders. These are the patterns to recognise:
- The "trust trade". They ask you to hand over your item first "to prove you're not scamming", then leave. Never give first without a secure, simultaneous trade window.
- The switcheroo. They show a high-value item, then swap it for a Normal-variant lookalike at the last second. Always re-check the exact item and variant in the confirmation screen.
- The middleman scam. A "trusted middleman" offers to hold both items — and runs. Only use a middleman you independently trust, and understand most middleman offers are the scam.
- The giveaway bait. "Add me and I'll give you free seeds" that turns into a request for your item "to unlock" the prize. Real giveaways never ask you to send something first.
- Fake "you won" DMs. Unsolicited messages that you won a giveaway you never entered, linking off-platform.
Third-party seed sites are not worth it.
Because the in-game economy is tight, a lot of players are tempted by external marketplaces selling cheap seeds and Sheckles. This is the single biggest risk to your account. Buying or selling game items for real money off-platform violates Roblox's rules, and these sites are a common vector for account theft, chargebacks and outright scams.
It also fuels the exact problems the community complains about — duping and bot farms that flood servers. The honest advice: earn your seeds in-game (see the money guide), and treat any "25-cent Dragon's Breath" offer as a trap.
If a deal happens outside the game's own trade window, you have no protection. No exceptions.
Know what your stuff is worth first.
Half of "scams" are really just bad trades you accepted because you did not know the values. Before you trade a pet, run both sides through the pet trade checker — it accounts for variants, which is where most value gaps hide:
- Never compare a variant to a Normal pet. A Big variant is worth ~2× a Normal, a Mega ~3×. A "same pet" trade can be wildly uneven.
- Price the ability, not just the rarity. Income pets (Unicorn, Golden Dragonfly) and top defenders (Ice Serpent) hold value best.
- Check the value list. The value tier list gives you a reference for every pet and crop before you commit.
- Values move with patches. A newly-added or event item can spike then settle — do not overpay at the peak.
Five rules that keep you safe.
Only use the in-game trade window
If it is not a secure, simultaneous trade, walk away.
Never send first
"Trust trades" are always a scam. No item leaves your inventory before theirs arrives.
Re-read the confirm screen
Check the exact item, quantity and variant every single time before you hit accept.
Ignore off-platform links
Giveaways and deals that move to Discord, a website or DMs are how people lose accounts.
Know the value first
Run it through the trade checker so nobody talks you into a bad swap.
